04 Mar POSTCARDS TO HARLEY – HELLO LONDON!
London was our final stop on our European adventure, and having both been there before my husband and I were fairly clear about what we wanted to do in The Old Smoke. We’d done the touristy places on previous visits, so that left us with a few days at the end of our trip to wander the streets, take our time, and eat everything in sight, the perfect farewell to our holiday.
SOME PLACES OF NOTE
(most of these are food related)
Notting Hill – Wandering around the cute houses and planning our hypothetical move to the area was one of my favourite mornings in London.
Breakfast at Farm Girl cafe in Portobello – Owned by an Australian, this place is as delicious as it is cute. We sat outside in the courtyard and enjoyed the pancakes and smash avo toast with a side of chai latte decorated with a french bulldog design – cutest chai i’ve ever had!
Dinerama – Shoreditch’s street food arena. (You must get You Doughnut donuts!) I tried the hot salted caramel with cinnamon sugar and vanilla ice-cream. I only got 3. I felt like a fool and still regret not getting more. We went here for lunch, but could easily have spent all afternoon here, snacking and sipping on pimms.
Tate Modern – what better way to spend an afternoon in London than to wander around the Tate Modern? Not only is the building’s architecture incredible, but the range of art on display is giddying. My favourite room featured artworks by Louise Bourgeois which included a range of illustration, painting and sculptural pieces. My husband loved the DIY building block station.
Borough Markets – THE place to go for fresh produce.
Bubbledogs – champagne and hot dogs, need I say more?
Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings – My wonderful friends who selfishly moved away to London took us to the most beautiful place for a belated birthday lunch. It was the perfect way to farewell our holidays. The interiors were absolutely swoon worthy, with white timber floors, warehouse windows, vintage chairs and lush greenery, I was in heaven. Also the food was beautiful, which was a bonus.
Thanks for having us London. Until next time…
